Samplers
These little paintings are my own interpretation of a traditionally stitched sampler, but created with paint and ink.
When we had more time in our days, it was usual for a mother, or grandmother to stitch a 'Sampler' to mark the birth of a baby. These included a sample alphabet and number range, the babies full name and birth details, and other images of the home & family life. These little paintings are my own interpretation of this lovely tradition but created with paint and ink rather than cotton thread. Traditionally these paintings record the birth of a baby, but I have painted many to celebrate other occasions such as a baptism or marriage.
COMMISSIONED SAMPLERS
An original commissioned sampler can include a small image of your home, pets or flags (nationalities), as well as symbols of the meaning/origin of baby's name. Please have a look through the pictures on this page to get some ideas.
I use watercolour paints, inks and colour pencils to create these paintings which can be either 22cm x 32cm or 19.5cm x 27cm (actual size of painting excluding the mount). I will post these to you in a simple antique white mount with a strong backing board and sealed into a cellophane envelope for protection. These are priced at £130.00 for the larger painting and £110.00 for the smaller size (excluding postage)
BLANK SAMPLERS
I offer a range of blank samplers which can be filled in with baby's details. So far, I have 2 printed samplers available: African animal theme or English animal theme. I will be adding Australian animal theme and Farmyard animal theme shortly.
